Overview
In your retail shop or restaurant, you take steps to make sure that you get paid for the merchandise you supply to your customers. If you didn't, you would go out of business. Activation is the way that we make sure we get paid for the use of our software.

With SELLmatix, you only need to activate SELLmatix Control, and it activates as many Point of Sale terminals or PocketPos terminals as you choose when buying your activation code.

You can activate SELLmatix for:-

  • One month
  • Six Months
  • Twelve Months
  • Permanent

The term you choose is up to you. You don't need to purchase a permanent license with huge up front license fees. There is no risk, and no obligation. You can change your mind anytime.

Overview
The best way to activate SELLmatix is online using PayPal. You can use Visa, MasterCard, your Bank Account (in some countries), or your PayPal Account. It's fast, easy and secure. And you will be up and running in about 5 minutes, because everything is automatic.

If you can't use PayPal or a Credit Card, then you can pay by direct deposit to our bank account. That takes a little longer, but you can still be up and running quickly.

Activation codes are like the serial numbers supplied with boxed software that you enter when installing a new program. Our activation codes look like this:-

and they are made up of 8 groups of 4 digits separated by a dash. Valid digits that can be used in the activation code include the digits from 0-9 and lower case alpha characters from a-f.

You can also buy or renew activation codes by clicking the Buy/Renew Button on the Activation Dialog in SELLmatix Control.

Activation Dialog

This dialog can be displayed form the Help->Activation Menu in SELLmatix Control. It is also displayed when Control starts, and when you need to be warned about Activation. The colour of this dialog changes according to how much time remains before SELLmatix Activation must be activated or renewed.

When the payment process is complete, your activation code is issued automatically for new activations, or if you are renewing an existing activation, that additional time you have purchased is added to your existing activation code.

Step 2. Enter your Details
If you are renewing an existing Activation, you can skip this section and move on to the next section, unless your user details have changed.

If this is the first time you have activated SELLmatix, you will need to enter the Activation code that you have been issued and your site details in the User Details Dialog.

Please Note:
SELLmatix Activation works in a similar way to how Windows XP is Activated. In other words, a fingerprint of the hardware devices installed on your system is matched with your activation code so that the Activation Code only works on your computer. Like Windows XP, if the hardware devices on your system change very significantly, you will need to contact technical support to re-activate the software.

You do not need to contact support if your hard disk crashes, or you need to reinstall Windows. You can back up and restore your activation key and restore it later, should your disk crash or you need to reinstall Windows.

However SELLmatix does use one of the network Adaptors as part of the fingerprint calculated. If your system uses more than one Network adaptor, particularly removable network adaptors, then you should select a network adaptor that will not be removed from the system. In the example above, both the Linksys and Bluetooth devices are removable, so you should select one of the other Network Adaptors.

Step 3. Activate Online
The next step is to Activate SELLmatix Control. Click the Activate button on the Activation Dialog, so the Activation Operations Dialog is displayed as follows:-

If the system running SELLmatix Control is connected to the Internet, all you need to do is click the "Activate This" button.

If the system running SELLmatix Control is not connected to the Internet

  • Click the "Save Request" button. This lets you save an Activation Request that contains the fingerprint of the system being activated. Store this request on a USB Thumb drive or other storage media, and take it another computer that is connected to the internet, and has SELLmatix control installed. The other machine does not need to have SELLmatix activated or running, but it does need to have Control installed.

  • On the other machine, go to the Activation Operations Dialog, and click the "Activate Other" button. This will allow you to select the Activation request saved on your storage device, and after performing the Activation online, will store a backup of the Activation Key generated.

  • Take the Activation key generated online back to the system running SELLmatix Control, and click the "Install Cert" button.

It is a good idea to make a backup of your Activation Certificate by clicking the "Backup" button, and keeping this backup in a safe place. That way, if your system crashes, you need to replace your hard disk or reinstall Windows, you can simply restore the Activation Certificate by clicking on the "Install Cert" button.

However this is rarely necessary, because if you have a copy of your Activation Code, you can simply re-activate by entering the Activation Code in the User Details dialog and clicking the "Activate This" button.

Confirming You Activation
When payments are processed online, and the payment processor sends us an approval code, but that does not mean that the payment is "final", it means that the payment is probably OK. There are still a range of reasons why the payment may not actually be completed.

We know that you want or need your system to be activated quickly. Immediately in some cases, so that you can process sales. So instead of waiting until the payment processing is final, we activate your software immediately, and then after there has been sufficient time for the payment to be finalised, the activation is confirmed. This means that if a problem occurs with your payment that you have sufficient time to correct the problem without being inconvenienced.

If the system running SELLmatix Control is connected to the internet, then confirmation is automatic. The only thing you will notice is that when the Activation Dialog is displayed, is that it won't show a "Confirm By" date. If the system running Control is not connected to the Internet, then you will be warned when the "Confirm Date" approaches, and you will need to repeat Step 3 of the Activation procedure.

How to Renew
The best way to renew your SELLmatix Activation is with an automatic subscription through PayPal. With an automatic subscripiton, your account is billed when due, and your SELLmatix Activation is updated automatically.
  • If the machine running Control is connected to the internet, you don't have to do anything because Control checks automatically to verify that payment has been received, and updates your activation. No action is required unless there is a problem with processing your payment, and you have a week to resolve any issue before the software stops working.
  • If the machine running Control is not connected to the internet then you will need to manually confirm that the payment has been processed by following the procedure in Step 3 above.
You can cancel an automatic subscription at any time by logging in to your PayPal Account.

You can also process renewals manually. With manual renewals, you can change the amount of time you purchase to suit your requirements and cash flow. As the expiry date for your activation approaches, you will be warned that renewal is due.

There is no advantage in waiting until the last minute to renew your activation because that time you purchase is added to the existing expiry date. In fact it is better to renew early, than risk a situation where your internet connection is down, which might delay your renewal, just when you need it.

Please Note:- To renew your activation code, click on the Buy/Renew button of the Activation Dialog in SELLmatix Control. Clicking this button passes your activation code to our server so that the additional time you purchase is added to your existing activation. Otherwise the system will just issue a new Activation Code.

If you click on the link on our website to renew, the system will issue with a new Activation Code and you will need to enter additional details.

After you have purchased additional activation time, click on the Activate button and follow the prompts.
